19 Washing Machines, 23 Dryers and 27 Mattresses....

Anyway, so things that happened this week are that I know when I am leaving the office, I get a new trainee at the middle of April. Then it is back out into the field for me. Yesterday, I bought 19 washing machines 23 dryers and 27 mattresses for the mission. Haha. It was a lot of money for me to spend. G is good, my goal in the office is his baptism. If I can get him baptized I will consider my time here totally worthwhile if not well, I still learned a lot and I will keep trying to baptize out in the field. I hope after this time in the office they send me to the most remote beat up place in the mission! Haha!

Today we watched the wedding of some investigators of the Rio Negro area here in Argentina, they are also getting baptized soon. They did the wedding in the church house. Today I am going to go try and buy Monte a soccer jersey and myself an Argentina jersey because I don´t have one yet. Also, they are selling cool artisan things in the plaza, today. There are a lot of Indian trinkets and hipster stuff.  We are also celebrating Elder Rayburns birthday today, so we are going to make an Asado. Also, the movie Coco, was approved by the mission president to watch, so we will be watching that tonight!

I love you and miss you all!

Missing St. Patrick's Day food and Moab, but working hard here in Argentina...

Hey Everyone!

Awwwhahhaww, I am going to miss the corned beef and cabbage on St. Patricks Day!

(Grandma's St. Patrick's Day Dinner~ West Jordan, Utah)

Things were busy this week with all of the missionaries coming and going. It is always fun to meet the new missionaries. Expectations high, and they have the spirit with them, It is great. We got a lot of free meals this week from all of it, so that is nice. Next week we have a lot of member meals so we are going to actually make it to the end of the month on the money that we have.

We had the conference for the leaders in the mission, so there were like 62 missionaries here, and I had to do so many things for all of them! When we have the leader conference it is the craziest, most busy day of my job. I have to take care of all the money problems of the mission that day. I am glad I get a break for a while from planning food, though. The other multizonas will be held on the 27th of March in Formosa and the 29th in Corrientes. I dont get to go to those ones, but then on the 3rd and 5th of April we have the multizonas in Resistencia.

Yeah, that picture that Noemi sent to you, mom, is us eating with her family, the Gomez family. The lunch that she served us was great!

They are definitely the coolest members in Barrio 1. He does a lot of steel working and he made us these really nice quality Bombillas or Mate straws to use when we go home. It is super cool!

Well, first of all we all look tired in that picture because we are just crazy beat up from being in the office and second I was really sick to my stomach during lunch that day, I hardly ate anything. That was also the day that all the new missionaries got here, too. I am better now, but I am still really tired.

The other day one of the other Elders from the mission saw me while I was working and he was like "Che está hecho percha!" hecho percha or hecho Bolsa is how you say you look beat up here in this part of Argentina. It is not really a phrase in other countries. I was wrecked doing reembolsos (refunds) all day on Wednesday.

G. came to church on Sunday and we taught him the lesson at the church. He almost has all the lessons taught to him now, and he has come to church enough times to get baptized, but we just need to get him to commit to being baptized. I think he is just a little scared. He is awesome, he always talks about eternal families. We haven´t even taught the law of chastity lesson, but his girlfriend, who is a member, explained it to him and he has been following it and he has started to follow the word of wisdom, too. He understands really well all the things we teach. I think with a little more time we can get him to commit to baptism.

Last p-day we didn´t do anything special or interesting and today I don´t think we have anything planned. Anyway, some other things that happened this week. I saw a Ferrari 458 drive down the street, so that was cool. It was bright red and it sounded amazing! I can´t imagine owning a Ferrari in this city, it would totally get destroyed! Also, Yarima Hill wrote me a letter, so if you could thank her for me that would be great! I also got my scripture case that I had ordered awhile ago and it is sweet!!!! It is made out of Alligator, Iguana, Carpincho, Lynx, Deer, snakeskin and also normal cow leather. It looks so cool!  Here are some pictures of it.

We also went to Corrientes this week to take apart a bunk bed and bring it back to Resistencia so, that was fun. I also got to stay the night with Elder Ashby and Elder Hall. It was great to get to hang out with my old companion Elder Ashby, again.  The next morning, Elder Ashby and I went to the bank. It started to rain super, super hard on us! We got back to the church, and even with umbrellas, we were soaked! I even had to go change into my other suit pants, Haha. It was that day that we had the conference with the zone leaders, district leaders, and sister training leaders so, everyone was a little wet!

Anyway that is pretty much it for this week!

That is great that you all had a good time Jeeping in Moab. From the pictures you sent, it looks like you all had a great time. That is cool that you got to go out and sit on the red rocks and think about God and all of His creations like that. That was something that Brother Hill would have us do when we went on the Arches back packing trip for scouts. We would sit alone and just think and ponder about it all!

I Love and miss you all!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Mom and Dad were on Vacation to Moab, so this posting is a little late...

Hey everyone,

That is cool that Elder Nipko (an Elder who is a friend of Nates in the mission) had a photography business going before he came out to serve his mission, He is a super cool dude. He is very good with people. He is very sociable. Yeah, his name is Jansen. I really get along with the group that came in with Elder Ashby. That group is so awesome. Elder Johnston, Elder Hargrave, Elder Pratt, Elder Nipko, Elder Rubisch. There are also a few others that I can´t think of right now.

This next week we have people leaving and also coming in new to the mission. We also have a few multizonas at the end of this month. I have to prepare a lot of food for those, this coming week. We also have a lesson with G. tonight! So, that will be good. We have gone out to work a few times. The other Elders in the office were moved to Ward 1 with my companion and I, so the four of us go out into the area to work a little bit more now. G is doing well, so things are moving along a little better with the work. We also started teaching this kid, whose parents are members, he will probably be getting baptized on the 17th of this month.

I have really tried to read the scriptures more this week. 2 Nephi Chapter 9 is soooooooo good! I love it! I think it is one of my favorite chapters in the whole Book of Mormon.

The food that we made is called Guiso. It was one of the biggest Guiso we all had ever seen, Haha! It was pretty good, but it is food for the poor, to be honest.

(Nates Dad asked him about the sports that they play down there and this is what he had to say about that)
Baseball does not exist here. I always talk about baseball with people and no one knows anything at all about it. I have not seen a baseball field or bat or ball or a glove or anything here, the sport is non-existent. Soccer is everything here. Argentines like some of the more uncommon sports like ping-pong and field hockey. Some of the other sports they play here are volleyball and basketball is also growing in popularity here too. I have gotten pretty good at ping-pong because all of the bigger church houses have a table so every p-day we get to play it a little bit.

(His Dad also asked him about using the mission truck and about how often he gets to use it and this is what he said)
The truck that we have in the mission is always with the Assistants to the President, unless we really need to use it. I take a remis (taxi) to the bank, also because there are hardly any parking spots in the main city and I have to wait there a good while, because like I said this country, is a country of waiting in long lines. Whether it is at the bank or to pay bills there are lines of people everywhere! The missionaries take taxis a lot, It makes for a lot of good stories, Haha! To be honest the missionaries go in the taxis so much that I am pretty sure that almost all of the drivers have had all of the missionary lessons! Haha.

Here is a video of us starting our adventure last week.   Keep being the best parents ever, I follow your examples every day! I will send some more of the photos I wasn´t able to send to you last week.

Take care, Love you all,

Chau,
Elder Pendleton

Isla Del Cerrito and mad taxi drivers...

Hey Everyone,

We are still trying to work with G. We might have a lesson tonight with him. Those pictures we took are with the Gomez family. They are awesome, we get to eat with them a lot. I am glad that Cole got out to the mission field safely. I hope everything goes well for him in the area that he has been assigned to, Turlock, California.

So, this week was good. Today we went out to visit this place called Isla del Cerrito. It is where they put all of the people from Resistencia that had Leprosy back in the day. Now it is just a little town with really cool old buildings. The road to get out there is really awesome. I have so many pictures, but I don´t have time to send all of them, but I will do my best to send the good ones! We had a lot of fun!

Also, another thing that happened this week was that I accidentally made a taxi driver mad at me because I forgot some money in the church house and when the guy got into his car to take me, I said; Hey, I forgot money in the church, I am going to go back in and get it and then come right back. But because I made him wait for a second he got super angry and started yelling at me!  When I came back with the money, all of the other taxi drivers that were also out front also wouldnt take me in their cars either and as I walked past them not a single one of them said a word to me. I got so mad. : (  I was super mad that they wouldn´t even take me to the bank, so my companion and I just ended up walking there. I was also sick that morning, but it was a tender mercy from God that there was not a line in the bank, nor in the Rapipago (City Tax Office), so I was able to do everything that day smoothly, anyway. We also got to eat at the Mission Presidents house that night to say goodbye to Elder Olmos. It was fun to see him again.

Mom and dad, I am glad that you two got married 34 years ago this past week, because you were then able to raise me like you have in the church using the best parenting I have ever seen! I love you guys!

Love ya and miss ya!

P.S. That is cool that Utah has a new rugby team, now. You should go watch some of the games!
